All the more so, as in Boulonnais the libraries come to you and are set up by the sea during the summer months!
Seaside resorts in Boulonnais compete with each other to come up with increasingly imaginative and creative ways to provide activities for families and all generations. You can enjoy sporting activities of course - the beaches offer oodles of choice - but you can now also read! There are libraries on the beach at Wimereux, Le Portel and Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Le Portel
The ‘Grain de page’ beach library in Le Portal sets up in its summer quarters during the school holidays (9 July to 24 August) from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. It is impossible to miss it. With sun loungers and parasols, it looks out to sea. Here, you can choose a book for a bit of escapism or keep up to date on trends and the latest celebrity gossip by borrowing a magazine. ‘Grain de page’ also offers free events which are open to all, including beach games and board games, etc. There is something for everyone!
Boulogne-sur-Mer
‘Le Quadrant’ in Boulogne-sur-Mer, which represents a group of the city’s libraries, also offers a ‘beach library’ every day from 1 July to 2 September, as well as free activities which are open to all. There are books for children and adults, novels, comics, non-fiction and Manga, etc. to read in situ on the sun loungers, on your towel or to take home. Perfect for relaxation, for keeping informed of literary news and finding out about the tourist attractions in the region! The beach library in Boulogne-sur-Mer is located at the Pôle Plage. In addition, it offers free events, such as board games and story time for children, etc.
Wimereux
A summer library is also available every summer in Wimereux at Baie Saint-Jean. Nearly 500 books are available to summer visitors, tourists and residents, including best-sellers, detective novels and recent magazines, etc. The range of books is wide and all suitable for reading on the beach!
